Sad Day

Daisy Didn't make. By the time I took her to the vet she had already twisted her gut. They tried to sedate her to get her to relax to see if thing might work out on there own. She blew through a heavy six hour dose of sedation in 30 mins and was in sever pain again. I had to make decision of a $12000 surgery or putting her down. I don't have $12000 and the odds of survival were still only 30% if she had surgery. So at 4 am this morning I had to put down my baby. The worst part is was looking for a stud to breed her with this spring to get a foal out of her before she got to old she was only 17. She will be missed R.I.P Daisy.

A 5 Letter Word I HATE

Being a horse owner,
there is a 5 letter word
I HATE.

C.O.L.I.C

We have had the WORST luck
with colic these past few weeks.
The vet's clinic we use
is getting ALL our money...

It is 1:30 AM and
Josh is 45 min away
at the vet's office
AGAIN.
Another horse has colic.
If Daisy wasn't such a great horse,
I am to the point that,
well,
I am at the end of my rope with
colic.

Josh is too.

The vet told us last time we were there
that with the season change so fast,
like almost 50 degrees in the past week or so,
they are seeing a lot of horses with colic.

Unfortunately, it is our turn again.

I love our horses,
the friends that we have made through
our horses, and
the smiles that they bring to my kids' face.
But, I think that the vet needs a punch card,
for the 5th visit free!

Talking to other horsey
people, it is because our area
has sand, not dirt.
So, it binds them up quicker.

I think that I am going to buy
all the horses a muzzle...

Happy weekend.

Tomorrow (or later today)
I am taking a NAP!!

Heather's 10th Birthday

Yesterday was our oldest girls birthday.
She is 10!!
Happy Birthday!
We didn't do anything exciting.
We went to PF Chang's on Sunday
and Wed. (her actual birthday) she got to
pick what we had for dinner.
On Sat. she is having friends over for a party.
She can hardly wait.
I need to post some older pictures of her
she has always been a gorgeous girl.

On a side note,
and not related to her birthday...

Josh just about ran over a puppy today after dropping
the girls off at school.
So, her brought it home.
It is a mutt and about 6-8 weeks old.
Jasmine got a hold of him.
all together now...
aaaaawwwwww
Look, he even matches the house.
Josh and Jasmine named him
Patton - the road near where they found him.

So, now we have 3 dogs.

Another side note:
does anyone remember Elmira from
the Tiny Toon show?
Jasmine reminds us of her.
Loves the animals to much...

Fallin' Behind

We have been so busy.
Let me catch you up:

Nov. 15, 2009
We decided that the girls need some
balance practice.
We started bare-back Sundays.
Yep, 4 horses, 3 bare-back
Hailey on Princess
Heather on Kermit
Wonder Girl on Topaz
followed by Heather
Payton waiting her turn
and drawing pictures in the sand.
Daddy cheated.
Daisy hadn't been ridden in a while,
she was coming back off an injury.
So, she was saddled.
Don't know if you can really see the grin
on Josh's face - he was havin' fun.
Daddy gave Jasmine a ride.
Jasmine and Savannah rode bare-back too,
I just missed the picture.

Nov. 16, 2009
Josh tried taking a picture of
Jasmine, Savannah and I.
It took a while.
See the smile on Savannah's face-
she does this all the time!

take 2
now we get the tongue...

take 3
there we got one -
really it was about 10 takes. LOL

Thanksgiving Day
Jasmine drew a picture for B'ma.
See the pink
Jamse-
she wrote her name BY HERSELF!!
proud momma right here...

B'ma put this together and hung it on her wall
Scrabble boards with the family names on them.
Closer shot of the board on the left:
What a cool idea!
the board on the right says things like; love, Faith, charity, hope

Nov. 27, 2009
Today we went to the park
and fed some FAT ducks.
they weren't really hungry
but I had stale bread...
It is hard to believe that this kid is only 3!
Heather, she will be 10 next week!!
Hailey proving to us all
that my kids are part MONKEY!
Jasmine and Heather
being eaten by a lion.

Hope you all have had as much fun as us
these last couple of days!
